Empowering Youth Through Exercise and Physical Activity
Were you so excited for PE class that you planned your outfit based on what would help you run your best mile time? Maybe not… Instead, were you the kid that got hit in the face with the dodge ball, knocking your glasses off, giving you a bloody nose? There are a range of different experiences with PE and exercise in early childhood. They have an influence on our exercise confidence as children that extend well into adulthood. So, how can we as parents, coaches, and teachers use exercise and physical activity to grow a child’s exercise confidence?
Recently, I did an interview with Scott Behrends of Backyard Ninja Kids, who has a mission to encourage and inspire kids of all ages to challenge themselves to do something they couldn’t do the day before. Call to Action
Since exercise and physical activity has indisputable effects on the health and well-being of children, let’s grow their exercise-confidence to help reap those benefits. Our words and behavior toward a child in their formative years can have enduring effects on their exercise-confidence that extends well into adulthood. Therefore, let’s speak life and encouragement into the children in our lives; catch them being good, praise them, and grow their belief in their physical abilities.
